Minister announces opening of Salmonier Nature Park

Kevin Aylward, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, today announced that Salmonier Nature Park will open for the 2001 season on Friday, June 1.

"Salmonier Nature Park serves as a provincial centre for environmental education and wildlife rehabilitation and is a major tourist destination in our province," said Mr. Aylward. "Its three-kilometre boardwalk trail invites visitors to take a stroll and view many of our native species of wildlife up close, while enjoying a unique interpretive experience along the way."

Salmonier Nature Park will operate from June 1 to September 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m (with gates closing at 5:00 p.m.), seven days a week. From September 4 to October 8, the park will be open Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (with gates closing at 3:00 p.m.). There are no fees to visit the park.

Salmonier Nature Park is located on the Salmonier Line (Route 90), 12 km south of the Trans Canada Highway (Route 1), on the Avalon Peninsula.

Salmonier Nature Park attracts many visitors including families and school groups as well as many non-resident tourists.

Minister Aylward encourages everyone to come visit Salmonier Nature Park to enjoy the striking beauty of our province�s wildlife in a unique setting.
