NLIS 4 March 30, 2001 (Municipal and Provincial Affairs) The following is being distributed at the request of the Municipal Assessment Agency: Board elects chairperson The board of directors for the Municipal Assessment Agency met on March 30. This was the first meeting of the board following the election of the municipal representatives and the appointment of the other stakeholder representatives. The board elected Councillor Randy Simms of the City of Mount Pearl, a representative of urban municipalities, as its new chairperson. Mr. Simms had previously served two years as vice-chair of the board. Mayor Walwin Blackmore of Grand Falls-Windsor, representing the Federation of Municipalities, was elected as the new vice-chair. Mr. Blackmore had served as chairperson of the agency�s Policy and Public Relations Committee for the past two years. The agency provides real property assessment services to 231 municipalities across the province. These selections are further evidence of the agency�s increasing responsiveness and accountability to the municipalities of Newfoundland and Labrador.
