Department pleased to partner in young workers safety orientation training

Labour Minister Anna Thistle said she is extremely pleased that the Department of Labour has partnered with the Newfoundland and Labrador Employers' Council and the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission to deliver safety orientation training to the province's youth.

"This training will see important health and safety information being provided to many young people entering the workforce through various summer programs and job placements," said Minister Thistle. "Focusing on our youth is a recognition of a commitment by government and industry stakeholders to investing in our province's future. I am confident the knowledge gained through this training will go a long way to developing a sound and entrenched safety culture in this province."

Funding for the safety orientation training, in the amount of $18,316, has been provided by Human Resources Development Canada.
