Province increasing highway patrol enforcement

Justice Minister Kelvin Parsons today announced that the province is providing $300,000 to increase highway patrol enforcement.

"Keeping our highways safe is a priority for government. To enhance public safety, we will be adding four additional police officers to highway patrol," said Justice Minister Kelvin Parsons.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police and stakeholders have undergone a comprehensive consultation process regarding Highway Traffic Services. This increase is a direct result of the consultation process.

"As a result of governments commitment to provide the most safe and efficient movement of people and resources on the provinces highways, we will increase our highway patrol resources," said Minister Parsons.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police will determine the postings for these officers based on traffic flow needs.
