New customer contact centre officially opens in Corner Brook

ICT Group, Inc. officially opened its newest customer contact centre in Corner Brook today.

"This is a positive economic development for the Corner Brook region," said Industry, Trade and Rural Development Minister Beaton Tulk, who participated in the opening. "It reflects our governments commitment to building stronger regional economies, diversifying our overall economy, and helping create new job opportunities through the private sector in all areas of the province. The information technology industry, in particular, shows significant potential for growth and has been targeted for attention in our recently released Jobs and Growth Renewal Strategy."

The customer contact centre, located in the Valley Mall, provides sales and service support for clients in the financial and insurance industries. ICT Group has already begun successfully recruiting employees for this centre. When in full operation, it is expected to employ 300 customer sales and service representatives, quality assurance, training and operations management personnel.

Also on hand for the opening were John J. Brennan, chairman and chief executive officer of ICT Group; Paul Pierce, senior vice_president and general manager of ICT Groups Canadian CRM operations; and, Glen Seymour, director of business voice solutions and support of Aliant Telecom (parent company of NewTel).

"We opened the Corner Brook facility to meet the increased demand for Canadian customer relationship management sales and service solutions by existing and prospective clients across Canada and the U.S.," said Mr. Brennan. "We are confident that this operation will provide the same consistent, quality performance as our other Canadian CRM contact centres."

NETWORK Newfoundland and Labrador, a public/private partnership between the provincial government and NewTel an Aliant company worked closely with ICT Group. The organization was established in 1995 to attract customer contact centre operations to the province.

"Todays opening marks a significant recognition of NETWORKs efforts, in conjunction with its partners," said Frank Fagan, president, Aliant Telecom Wireless Services. "This is a wonderful achievement for the team and firmly enhances the role of this province as a key player in the call centre sector."
