BACKGROUNDER
New pay system for HRE clients
- The department will invest $1.8 million in
2001-2002 to develop a new pay system that will improve the delivery of
our income support and employment and career programs.
- Development of a new pay system is an
essential part of the department�s redesign of programs and services.
It will replace the current system that was developed in the mid-1970s.
- The new system will enhance service
delivery and ensure fast, efficient and timely response to client
enquires.
- The new system is the latest initiative in
the department�s redesign plan. Other initiatives implemented since
1998 include the Newfoundland and Labrador Child Benefit, extended drug
card coverage for clients leaving income support for employment and the
NewfoundJOBS Employment Program.
