NOTE TO EDITORS:

Minister to meet with representatives of fuel and insurance industries
to discuss preventing and dealing with domestic fuel spills

Walter Noel, Minister of Government Services and Lands, will meet with representatives of the fuel service and insurance industries on Friday, March 23 to discuss fuel spill problems and how they may be prevented, reduced, or dealt with more effectively when they occur. There has been a substantial increase in the number of spills recently. Noel wants to help ensure everything reasonable is being done to prevent these spills; that citizens understand their responsibilities and are aware of the agencies that they can contact for advice; and that the insurance industry is providing appropriate coverage.

Minister Noel intends to hold similar meetings with representatives of consumer groups and the general public in the near future.

The meeting with the fuel service and insurance industries will be held at 3 p.m. in Conference Room A, Ground Floor, West Block, Confederation Building.
