Orma North Caribou Zone opens

Kevin Aylward, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, has announced that the Orma North Caribou Zone in Labrador, is open for caribou hunting effective January 12.

Minister Aylward said: "Staff of the department have confirmed there are sufficient numbers of caribou in the zone to warrant its opening, which is also supported by the general movement patterns of collared animals in recent days."

Wildlife officials will continue to monitor movements of the caribou. Additional zones are being monitored and will be opened or closed depending on the presence of the caribou herd.
