5th session of the Council of Atlantic Premiers

Premier Roger Grimes will host and chair the Council of Atlantic Premiers' meeting to be held in St. John's, November 8. Premiers John Hamm, Bernard Lord, and Pat Binns will join Premier Roger Grimes to discuss and release Working Together for Atlantic Canada: An Action Plan for Regional Cooperation. This action plan outlines an aggressive agenda of concrete actions to improve quality and efficiency of government services; protect the quality of the region's environment; and strengthen the region's economic competitiveness. Atlantic premiers will also discuss the upcoming national premiers' conference on health scheduled for Vancouver in January, the recent meeting of finance ministers, the December federal budget, and Canada/US border issues.

The meeting is being held at the Fairmont Hotel, 115 Cavendish Square, in St. John's. A photo opportunity will be available at 8:30 a.m. in the Garrison-Signal Room. 

The premiers will hold a news conference in the Avalon-Battery Room at 2:00 p.m. Simultaneous interpretation services will be provided during the news conference. News releases issued from the meeting will be distributed by each province's communications office following the meeting.

The media working area will be located in the Plymouth Room and will be available at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 8.

Media representatives planning to cover the meeting, including journalists, photographers, camera operators and technicians are asked to register by submitting their name, affiliation and contact information to the address below by November 7. On-site registration will be available.
