Wellness Week - October 22-26

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador's second annual Workplace Wellness Week is taking place this week, October 22-26. The objectives of Wellness Week are to promote employee health through increased lifestyle awareness and to provide opportunities for employees to participate in health-related activities.

This event is sponsored by the provincial Wellness Committee, with co-ordinating support provided by the Public Service Commission. The Wellness Committee, with broad representation from labour, management and all regions of the province, has been active since 1999 in promoting individual and organizational health within the public service.

Wellness Week activities are being organized in all areas of the province, with health fairs taking place in St. John's and Gander. During last year's event, over 100 work sites organized health-related activities, with over 600 employees visiting the health fair at Confederation Building.
