Minister to attend meeting of Ministers Responsible for the Status of Women

Sandra Kelly, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, will be in Quebec City, September 19, for the 20 annual federal-provincial-territorial meeting of Ministers Responsible for the Status of Women.

"I look forward to meeting with my counterparts and discussing issues of importance to women across the country. This is a great opportunity to provide a real sense of what is happening around women's issues in the Newfoundland and Labrador and to get a strong sense of what's happening in the rest of Canada," said Minister Kelly.

Agenda items for the meeting include violence prevention, women's health and economic issues. The ministers will also discuss the importance of gender inclusive analysis in the development of programs and policies.

"Meetings such as this one are vital to the continued social, economic and political success of women in the province and in Canada," said Minister Kelly. "I am committed to bringing the issues that affect women in their day-to-day lives to the table and to working jointly with my colleagues toward real and effective solutions."

The annual meeting of the Ministers Responsible for the Status of Women begins today in Quebec and concludes on Friday, September 21.
