Premier Grimes expresses sadness and concern regarding terrorist attacks on U.S.

Premier Roger Grimes today expressed his sadness and concern in response to terrorist attacks against the United States.

"On behalf of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador, I want to extend heartfelt condolences to the American people and, in particular, the families of those injured and killed in the attacks in New York and Washington," said the premier. "The events that have unfolded today have shocked and saddened us all."

"Government, through its Emergency Measures Organization, is providing assistance to passengers who have been diverted to airports across the province in the wake of this tragedy. We will also work with other organizations and government agencies to assist these people in any manner possible," said Premier Grimes.

"Government is also prepared to support federal agencies in both Canada and the United States with whatever assistance we may be able to provide."

Premier Grimes also shared his concerns for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who may have been impacted by the terrorist attacks in the United States.

"I share the concerns of the residents of this province who may have family or friends currently living and working in the United States, in particular those residing in New York State and Washington," said the premier. "We are all deeply affected by today's events. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone touched by this tragedy."
