Premier announces senior appointment

Premier Roger Grimes today announced the appointment of Rex Goudie as assistant deputy minister of Labrador Operations with the Department of Labrador and Aboriginal Affairs. Mr. Goudie will be based in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

The appointment is effective immediately.

REX GOUDIE
Appointed as Assistant Deputy Minister
Department of Labrador and Aboriginal Affairs

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Goudie held the position of director with Labrador and Aboriginal Affairs Secretariat in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. A graduate of Memorial University with a bachelor of arts degree and a graduate of Dalhousie University with a bachelor of commerce degree, the Labrador native began his career as a researcher with the St. John's Board of Trade. He moved on to work with the Department of Employment and Immigration, Brig Bay Fisheries, the Marine Institute and, in October 1988, joined the staff of the Labrador Community College as an instructor. In May 1990, Mr. Goudie was hired as the coordinator of the Comprehensive Labrador Agreement, a position he held until March 1998. Mr. Goudie has been involved in community development in Labrador since the mid-1980s and was director of the 2000 Labrador Winter Games.
