Minister to meet with officials at CFB Goose Bay

Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Tom Lush will travel to Happy Valley - Goose Bay tomorrow, March 9, for an introductory meeting with Colonel Paul McCabe, Commanding Officer of Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Goose Bay, and the Commanders of Allied countries that conduct military flight training in Labrador.

"The Intergovernmental Affairs Secretariat will continue to act as the principal point of contact for the province on military activities associated with the base," said Minister Lush. "As Minister for Intergovernmental Affairs, I look forward to the opportunity to meet with our colleagues at CFB Goose Bay and continue the effective working relationship the province has forged with the military in Labrador."

Ernest McLean, Minister of Labrador and Aboriginal Affairs, and Wally Andersen, Parliamentary Secretary for Aboriginal Affairs, will accompany Minister Lush and participate in a briefing on operations at CFB Goose Bay. Minister Lush will then tour the facilities and discuss ways the province can continue to assist the Department of National Defense (DND) to enhance the viability of environmentally sanctioned military operations at the base. During the visit, Minister Lush will also be briefed on current military training activities and on ways to increase new training opportunities.
