Opening date announced for House of Assembly
Government House Leader Tom Lush today announced that the House of Assembly will resume sitting on March 12, 2001 to prorogue the current session of the legislature.
"I expect this to be a very productive and effective session with the main emphasis being the budget and fiscal policy," said Minister Lush. "Legislation in the spring session will be largely facilitating and enacting the major policies announced by the premier up to and during the leadership campaign."
Minister Lush said, adhering to the general guidelines accepted by all political parties, that the spring session will deal primarily with budget and fiscal matters while the fall session will deal primarily with legislation.
On Tuesday, March 13, 2001, His Honour Lieutenant-Governor Dr. A.M. House will open the third session of the 44th General Assembly of the legislature with the reading of the Speech from the Throne.
