Government endorses general directions of report by Task Force on Workers� Compensation

Premier Roger Grimes has endorsed the general framework and directions outlined in the report prepared by the Task Force on Workers� Compensation.

Government is encouraging all stakeholders to take ownership of the report and play an active role in implementing it. "The role of government now will be to take a closer look at the recommendations and facilitate the implementation of the core elements of the report. Government is prepared to move forward quickly with any legislative changes that are key to stabilizing the system," said Premier Grimes. "I am also very pleased that the task force has offered to continue to work with government to oversee the implementation of the recommendations."

"On behalf of the provincial government, I would like to thank the task force for the time, effort and work they have spent in compiling and preparing this report," said the premier. "They have listened carefully to stakeholders throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and have proposed thoughtful recommendations based on what they heard."
