Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Labour Minister Oliver Langdon has announced the following events relative
to the Environmental Assessment Act. In the case of documents received or approved, copies
may be obtained by contacting the regional office of the Department of Environment and Labour
or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the
public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown
for each item.

NEW UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Charlottetown Diesel Generating Plant Expansion
Proponent: Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro

The proponent plans to expand the existing diesel generating plant in Charlottetown, Labrador to 2.28 megawatts. The proposed increase in generating capacity will be obtained through installation of two new generating units at the existing diesel plant. One generating unit will be installed to replace an existing unit and the other will be a mobile unit installed adjacent to the existing generating plant. Planned completion date for the plant expansion is early Spring 2001. The undertaking was registered on February 6, 2001; public comments are due on March 13, 2001; and the minister's decision is due on March 23, 2001.
