Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment Minister Ralph Wiseman has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. Copies of documents may be obtained by contacting the Department of Environment at 729-2562 or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Amendment to Five-Year Plan (1998 - 2002) for forest management districts 10,11 and 12.
(Duck Pond, Sluice Brook, Patchy Valley and Golden Gullies Road in Central Newfoundland)
Proponent: Abitibi Consolidated

The proponent proposes to amend the current five-year operating plan for five operating areas, all of which are located within District 11 and are intended to encompass a portion of the 2002 annual work schedule for this district.

The proponent maintains that the areas are required to sustain operations within the year 2002 until a new five-year operating plan is developed for the planning period 2003 to 2007.

The undertaking was registered on November 29, 2001, public comments are due January 4, 2002, and the minister's decision is due on January 13, 2002.

Forest Management District Five - Five Year Operating Plan (Amendment)
Proponent: Newfoundland Forest Service

Pitcher's Pond Golf Course
Proponent: The Town of Whiteway, Trinity Bay

Forest Access Road and Bridge (Brink's Pond - Campbellton Area)
Proponent: Cottle's Island Lumber Co. Ltd.

The minister has released these three undertakings from environmental assessment in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Assessment Act.
