Environmental Assessment Bulletin
Environment Minister Ralph Wiseman has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. Copies of documents may be obtained by contacting the Department of Environment at (709) 729-2562 or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
UNDERTAKING RELEASED:
Deep Bight Pond (Clarenville Area) Cottage Development Plan
Proponent: Department of Government Services and Lands
The minister has released the undertaking from environmental assessment in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Assessment Act.
UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:
Pitcher's Pond Golf Course
Proponent: The Town of Whiteway, Trinity Bay
The proponent proposes an 18-hole golf course with an irrigation system, electric powerline construction, a maintenance and golf cart storage building and a clubhouse. The golf course is proposed for the immediate area generally surrounding Pitcher's Pond located near Whiteway. The undertaking was registered on October 15. Public comments are due on November 19, and the minister's decision is due on November 26.
Forest Access Road and Bridge (Brink's Pond - Cambellton Area)
Proponent: Cottle's Island Lumber Co. Ltd.
Cottle's Island Lumber Co. Ltd. operate a sawmill and value-added wood manufacturing plant. In support of their operations, the proponent proposes to construct a three kilometre forest access road and a three metre long bridge crossing Lacey's Brook, a tributary of Indian Arm Bridge. The proposed road and bridge are located in Forest Management District 8 near Brink's Pond, approximately 15 kilometres south of Cambellton. The undertaking was registered on October 12. Public comments are due on November 19, and the ministers' decision is due on November 26.
