Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment Minister Ralph Wiseman has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. Copies of documents may be obtained by contacting the Department of Environment at (709) 729-2562 or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.

UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

LaManche Sand and Gravel Pit Access Road
Proponent: LaManche River Resources Inc. (Roderick Mercer, Bay Roberts)

The minister has released the undertaking from environmental assessment in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Assessment Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Bed and Breakfast Access Road, Black Cove (East of Lawn)
Proponent: Down By The Sea Inc.

The proponent is proposing to build a new seaside resort near Back Cove located just east of the Town of Lawn. The resort would consist of two buildings measuring approximately 9.75m X 18.3m each. To access the site it would be necessary to construct a 1,500 metre access road from Lawn to Back Cove. The undertaking was registered on October 3, 2001. Public comments are due on November 7, 2001, and the ministers' decision is due November 17, 2001.
