Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment Minister Ralph Wiseman has announced the following event relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. 

ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE APPOINTED:

     Bellevue 18-Hole Golf Course
     Proponent: L. Mareido Enterprises Limited (Melvin Conrad Reid, President)

On August 13, 2001 the minister required an environmental preview report (EPR) to address environmental issues related to the undertaking. As required by the Environmental Assessment Act the minister has now appointed an Environmental Assessment Committee. The committee has representation from the following government departments:

Department of Environment (Environmental Assessment Division, Water Resources Division and    Pollution Prevention Division)
Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods (Forestry Division)
Department of Municipal Affairs and Provincial Affairs (Urban and Rural Planning Division)
�  Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation (Tourism Division, Wildlife Division, and Parks and Natural Areas Division)
Environment Canada
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (Marine Environment and Habitat Management Division)
 
The committee will develop the guidelines which will highlight the environmental issues to be addressed in the EPR. Once approved by the minister, the guidelines will be made available to the public for information. The proponent is required to submit the EPR which will be available for public review.
