UNDERTAKING REGISTERED

Foxtrap Commercial Salvage Yard
Proponent: Newfoundland Recycling Ltd.

The undertaking proposes to relocate the existing commercial salvage yard at Pocket Road, Long Pond, Conception Bay South to a new location at Incinerator Road, off the Foxtrap Access Road. The proposed new site was formerly a car wreck storage site for the town of Conception Bay South, but is currently under the jurisdiction of the City of St. John's. The site is approximately 4.5 hectares in area.

The purpose of relocation is due to the limited space at the present facility. The proponent proposes a larger site to accommodate future expansion and alleviate aesthetic concerns. The project was registered April 30, 2001, public comments are due June 4, and the minister's decision is due June 14.

DATE OF MINISTER'S DECISION EXTENDED

Labrador City Carol Mining Project - Luce Pit Development
Iron Ore Company of Canada

The proponent has provided additional information on the diversion of White Brook for the minister's consideration and has agreed to an extension of the minister's decision on the registration until May 15, 2001. At that time the minister will make a decision on the registration in accordance with the Environmental Assessment Act. Copies of the additional information are available from the Environmental Assessment Division. The contact person for this project is Pat Marrie at 729-2813 or e-mail at pmarrie@mail.gov.nf.ca.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Further information may be obtained by contacting the Director of Environmental Assessment at (709) 729-2562 or toll-free: 1-800-563-6181 or by mail to:
