ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT BULLETIN

Environment Minister Ralph Wiseman has announced the following relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. In the case of documents received or approved, copies may be obtained by contacting the Department of Environment or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Forest Management District 7, Five Year Operating Plan (Amendment)
South Coast-Bay d' Espoir Area.
Proponent: Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods

This amendment is for silviculture treatments necessary to provide flexibility in meeting strategic objectives outlined in the district forest management plan. These silviculture treatments are proposed in three general locations: (1) Upper Salmon, (2) north of St. Alban's, and (3) along the Bay d' Espoir Highway. The total area proposed for treatment is approximately 200 hectares.

This undertaking was registered on March 21, 2001, public comments are due April 26, 2001 and the minister's decision is due on May 5, 2001.

UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

The minister has released the following project from environmental assessment in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Assessment Act:

Charlottetown Diesel Generating Plant Expansion
Proponent: Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro
