Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment Minister Ralph Wiseman has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. In the case of documents received or approved, copies may be obtained by contacting the Department of Environment or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181.

UNDERTAKING WITHDRAWN:

Hawke Hills Wind Power Project (Four Mile Pond)
Proponent: CHI Hydroelectric Company Inc.

The proponent has withdrawn the above undertaking from environmental assessment due to incompatibility with current land use zoning in the vicinity.

DATE OF MINISTER'S DECISION EXTENDED

Old Perlican to Grates Cove Wind Power Project
Proponent: CHI Hydroelectric Company Inc.

The proponent has provided additional information on bird/turbine interaction for the minister's consideration and has agreed to an extension of the minister's decision on the registration until April 15, 2001. At that time the minister will make a decision on the registration in accordance with the Environmental Assessment Act. Copies of the additional information are available from the Environmental Assessment Division.
