School board elections - September 25

Minister of Education Judy Foote today reminded all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians that on September 25, school boards across the province will hold their general elections. "I encourage all citizens to get out and vote,' said the minister.

"This is a prime opportunity for everyone to have a say in the direction of education for our province," added the minister. "There are many issues facing our students, parents and teachers. It is important we have responsible, dedicated trustees on our boards who can offer their time or expertise in the delivery of education services.

"I applaud all interested parties who offered themselves for election. These individuals have recognized the need for qualified people to act in partnership with other education stakeholders in determining education policy and providing a quality education for all students. It is the responsibility of every Newfoundlander and Labradorian to ensure the people who sit on these boards have an interest in furthering the educational opportunities of our young people," said the minister.

Anyone requiring additional information concerning where to vote or the voting process should contact their local school board office.
