School boards utility budgets balanced

Government is investing $3.5 million to cover additional utility costs incurred by school boards over the past two years.

"We recognize that with rising energy costs, it has been difficult for school boards to accurately forecast their utility budgets. This $3.5 million investment is essential to assisting the boards to address this circumstance and avoid deficit positions. That is a priority for both government and school boards," said Education Minister Judy Foote.

"This investment honours governments commitment to fund school boards actual costs for utilities and fuel," added the minister.
