Labrador school and highway projects announced Rick Woodford, Minister of the Department of Works, Services and Transportation, and Ernie McLean, Minister responsible for Labrador, today announced a $100,000 contract for Lake Melville School and two contracts valued at over $13 million for the Trans Labrador Highway. A $8,489,070.00 contract has been awarded to McNamara Construction Co. of St. John's. Work will include the supply and installation of a truss type bridge at St. Lewis Inlet, Route 510 (Trans Labrador Highway), and grading approximately four kilometres at St. Lewis Inlet, Route 510, Labrador. Mr. McLean said that work will be completed by July 1, 2001. A second contract, valued at $4,854,150.00, was awarded to McNamara Construction Co. Work will include the construction of a bridge and causeway at the Alexis River in Labrador and grading 1.2 kilometres of Route 510 (km 211 to km 212.2) at Alexis River. Mr. McLean said that work will be completed by August 31, 2001. A $104,650.00 contract has been awarded to Colby Construction Ltd. of Upper Island Cove, NF. Work will include the supply and installation of a new gymnasium floor in Lake Melville School, North West River, Labrador. Mr. McLean said that work will be completed by August 18, 2000.
