Funding announced for La Scie Highway

Works, Services and Transportation Minister Rick Woodford announced today that $880,000 in funding has been allocated for road work on Route 414, the La Scie Highway.

"I am extremely pleased to make this announcement because I realize how badly the roads in this area need to be repaired," said Minister Woodford. "This funding is a good start in our efforts to improve the condition of the La Scie Highway."

The project will include the reconstruction and repaving of approximately nine kilometres of the highway, beginning at Southwest Brook Bridge (near Route 410) and proceeding towards La Scie. Tenders for the project will be called within the next couple of weeks with the project scheduled for completion by the end of September.

"There are a lot of areas in the province which require road repairs and upgrades," added Mr. Woodford. "We have $16 million in the provincial capital roads program and have to distribute this throughout the province. We have to do our best with the available funding."
