The following is being distributed at the request of Marine Atlantic:
Current status of Marine Atlantic�s negotiations for a new ferry
Marine Atlantic Inc. has entered into an agreement to purchase a new ferry to provide the additional capacity required to support the Gulf ferry service. The purchase agreement details will be concluded within the next two weeks.
The new ferry will provide a long-term solution to the capacity issue. While the company awaits its delivery in early next year, a substitution ferry will meet the capacity needs of this Viking year.
A formal announcement with additional details will follow after all formalities have been completed.
