Beresford Ltd. Volleyfest 2000

The Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association is pleased to announce that the Beresford Ltd - Volleyfest 2000 will be played in the St. Johns/Mount Pearl area this weekend October 27-28, this is the sixth year for the event. There will be seven divisional titles decided; Senior High A and B boys, Senior High A , B and C girls and Junior High boys and girls. A total of 105 teams are registered for the tournament up from last year's 96 teams with 272 matches of volleyball to be played during the weekend on 19 different courts. Jeff Saunders, president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association says: "We were expecting less teams for this years event due to the amalgamation of some schools however we were extremely pleased to surpass the 96 teams from last year. It definitely however tells us that volleyball is continuing to grow in participation throughout the province as we have teams representing most parts of the island."

The venues being used for the event are Memorial University, Booth Memorial, MacDonald Drive Junior High, Bishops College, Torbay Recreation Centre, Beaconsfield Junior, Prince of Wales, Mount Pearl Senior High, Mount Pearl Intermediate, Marine Institute, Gonzaga and Leary's Brook. The event will begin at most facilities at approximately 3:30 - 4:00 p.m. on Friday and play will be continued on Saturday with playoffs scheduled at various facilities for late Saturday afternoon. All awards will be presented at Memorial University gymnasium at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night. All teams are expected to be in attendance.
