Angela King, President of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador, stated: "The Board of Directors of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador is very pleased to have acquired the services of Todd Martin as program coordinator for the federation and we are delighted to be able to take the next step in our strategic plan. Our goal is to deliver the programs and services our membership have requested which we feel is essential in order to assist in development of all aspects of sport in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Todd brings a wealth of expertise to this position and he will be able to function quite well working on a daily basis to carry through on the program development activities the board of directors has planned for sport in this province as outlined in our strategic plan and to implement the many programs needed for sport organizations to better succeed in this province.

"As we have stated before, Sport Newfoundland and Labrador currently has 11 people on the board of directors who, as volunteers, work tirelessly to make sure that we can offer the best possible service to sport, and as a group of volunteers who work from nine to five, we are not able to take on any additional activities and Todds function will be to carry out those functions for us from nine to five.

"The recent increase in our level of funding from the provincial governments Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation has made it possible for us to hire a much needed program coordinator. The three federations will now be on a more level playing field, because we will each now have a full time paid employee in the office to manage our affairs. We are confident that our level of funding will be matched with those of the other two federations as we head into the development and delivery phase over the next while."
