This past weekend the Caribou Gun Club hosted the first air gun match of the new season. Three clubs on the Avalon took part as did one independent shooter from Corner Brook.

In the beginners class of tyro Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) shooter Tim Ralph defeated St. Catherine's Laurie Hearn with a 409 for gold. Randal Power (505) defeated Jason Dalton by a single point clinching the gold marksman. Both these MUN shooters shot well enough to be promoted to the rank of sharpshooter. Best junior marksmen went to Darrin Dobbin of St. Catherine's with a score of 458.

In the ladies division MUN student Lesley Fitzgerald won the gold over St. Catherine's Laurie Hearn with a 503. Unfortunately, Lesley was the only sharpshooter this time and was temporarily placed into the class of expert. The gold, silver and bronze went to Jason Pelley (583), Corey

Ivany and Shawn Dyke respectively. All shooters were from MUN. Finally in the master class, it was provincial record holder Dave Woolridge with a 570 defeating Claude Pike of Caribou.
