This event marked the first time such a diverse group of athletes from our province participated in National Team trials in the Sport of Taekwondo. Taekwondo Canada hosts three National Championships a year, as part of the selection process for Team Canada. Athletes selected to be on Team Canada are qualified to participate in the World Taekwondo Championships, the Pan-Am Games & the most coveted sporting event of all, the Olympic Games. While the Olympic Team has already been selected, the gold medalists in the Junior Blackbelt division from this event will represent Canada at the World Junior Championships in Ireland this November.
