The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Pepsi Juvenile A Boys Championships

The Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association held their Pepsi Juvenile A Boys Championships in Foxtrap this past weekend. There were nine teams in attendance but Loopers Black was the team to make it to the top. Loopers defeated CBS Sabers in the final 27-25, 25-22 to bring home the gold. The CBS Sabers made it to the final by defeating Discovery Collegiate in the first semi-final 25-15, 25-11, the second semi-final the Loopers Black defeated Clarenville 25-14, 25-22.

Discovery Collegiate defeated Clarenville 25-13, 14-25, 15-12 to bring home the bronze medal.

These teams made it to the playoff�s by placing first or second in their divisions. CBS Sabers finished top of the division A with a record of 3/1. Clarenville came in a close second with also 3/1 record. Exploits Valley High finished third with a 2/2 record. Loopers White finished fourth with a record of 1/3 and O�Donel with fifth with a record of 1/3. In Division B Loopers Black came out on top with a first place finish with the record of 5/1, Discovery Collegiate finished second with the record of 4/2. Bishops Hitmen finished third with a 3/3 record and Ascension Collegiate was fourth with the record of 0/6.

The All Stars for the tournament went to Adrian Snow of Bishops, Doug Duffett of Discovery Collegiate, from Clarenville Blair Benoit, Adam Hart of the CBS Sabers, David Winsor and Greg Stokes from Loopers Black. And the Most Spirited Player was Martin Chalker of Bishops.

The Pepsi Juvenile B Boys also competed this weekend. The championships were held in Clarenville. There were also nine teams in attendance but the Trinity Bight Barons was the team on top. Trinity defeated Conne River in the final 25-21, 25-23. Conne River made the final by defeating Lumsden 16-25, 25-15, 15-9. Trinity Bight made it to the final by defeating Beaconsfield Saxons 25-22, 25-15.

The Bronze Medal match was Beaconsfield Saxons defeating Lumsden 28-26, 25-19.

The four teams made the playoffs by placing first or second in their divisions. Conne River was the top of Division A with a record of 4/0. Trinity Bight Barons was second with the record of 3/1. Musgravetown was third with a 1/3 record. Bruds were fourth with a 1/3 record. Summit volleyball club placed fifth with a 0/4 record. In Division B the Beaconsfield Saxons was at the top with a 5/1 record, Lumsden was second with also a 5/1 record. Summit Carnage 2 was third with the record of 1/5 and Glovertown was fourth with the record of 1/3.

All Stars for the Juvenile B Boys were; Ryan Murphy of Glovertown, Andrew Humphries of Lumsden, Steve Horlick of Musgravetown, Andrew Northcott of the Beaconsfield Saxons, Jamie King of Trinity Bight Barons, and Travis Drew of Conne River. The Most Spirited Player went to Cory Melindy of Lumsden.
