NLBA Elite Eight rankings

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association (NLBA) has released the final rankings for the 2000 Elite Eight Championships to be held on February 18-20. The event is scheduled for Memorial University and Holy Heart of Mary in St. Johns.

The selection committee has tabulated approximately 350 game results as of February 7 in determining who will be invited to participate. Chairperson George Power is pleased with the response from across the province and states, "It has generated a great deal of interest which has resulted in coaches planning more games and practices for their athletes. The responses from teams faxing results to the office were great and much higher than expected when this concept was put in place back in September. While certain teams were obvious choices there were some tough decisions that had to be made between teams ranked between 6-10."
