New brochure for provincial parks and natural areas

Charles Furey, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, today announced that the department has developed and made available a brochure which profiles the provincial parks and natural areas throughout the province, and introduces new tour programs and package tour rates.

"Visiting our provincial parks and ecological reserves provides one of the best ways to discover the true natural beauty of Newfoundland and Labrador," said Minister Furey. "We have developed a brochure which highlights our provincial parks and natural areas, and also outlines ideal tours that will guide you into all of the parks and a select number of ecological reserves. It�s a great brochure for tourists to the province as well as our own people who wish to vacation in the province."

The following is a list of provincial parks and ecological reserves which are profiled in the brochure:

Cape St. Mary�s Ecological Reserve
La Manche Provincial Park
Witless Bay Ecological Reserve
Butter Pot Provincial Park
Lockston Path Provincial Park
J.T. Cheeseman Provincial Park
Barachois Pond Provincial Park
Sandbanks Provincial Park
Blow Me Down Provincial Park
Squires Memorial Provincial Park
The Arches Natural Scenic Attraction
Burnt Cape Ecological Reserve
Pistolet Bay Provincial Park
Pinware River Provincial Park
Frenchmans� Cover Provincial Park
Notre Dame Provincial Park
Dildo Run Provincial Park

The brochure outlines three tours which will guide you through some or all of the above parks and ecological reserves including: the eight-day East Coast and Avalon Peninsula All Things Small but Great Tour; the 14-day West Coast and Southern Labrador All Things Great and Small Tour; and the 29-day All Things Great and Small Tour, an all-park tour.

These brochures are available by calling 1-800-563-NFLD or at the provincial parks checkpoints and tourist chalets.
