Funding for TickleAce magazine

Charles Furey, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, today announced funding in the amount of $10,000 for TickleAce Journal, a magazine devoted to the publication and promotion of Newfoundland and Labrador writers and visual artists.

"Newfoundland and Labrador is home to many great literary and artistic talents and TickleAce plays a very important role in developing and promoting these talents," said Furey. "The magazine is also recognized for the role it plays in promoting and preserving our literary culture. This funding will help support the continuation of the magazine and enhance the vibrancy of our literary community and cultural heritage."

TickleAce has been published for more than 21 years, during which time it has printed the works of more than 400 writers, the large majority of them being from Newfoundland and Labrador. One of the primary purposes of the magazine is to encourage new writers and develop their potential by publishing their work alongside that of more established writers. TickleAce is nationally renown and has one of the highest circulation rates for literary magazines in Canada.
