Market Highlights:

Retail gasoline prices decreased throughout the province from 2.0 to 4.0 cpl during the last month. Conception Bay South continues to have the least expensive price of 74.5 cpl.

From April 4, 2000 to May 2, 2000 refinery wholesale prices, as measured by the Montreal refinery rack price, decreased by 4.9 cpl to 31.0 cpl.>

Crude oil prices increased from $25.45 US per barrel to $26.89 US per barrel over the current survey period.

Effective May 1st, the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission in PEI approved an average increase of 2.2 cpl. This increase was approved as part of the regular bi-monthly crude oil cost changes that are allowed under that system. A decision on oil company applications for non-crude oil cost related price increases averaging about 6.5 cpl is pending by the commission.

Moncton gasoline prices increased following price wars in early April that saw gasoline prices fall by 9.6 cpl
