Mines and Energy Minister Paul Dicks said today that he has become aware that the federal Department of Natural Resources has released further internal federal government information in response to an Access to Information request regarding Joint Feasibility Studies on a transmission line infeed to the province from Labrador.

"We are obtaining a copy of the materials released by the federal government," noted Minister Dicks. "At this point, it appears that the materials the federal government is releasing are both lengthy and complex. In this context, they will undoubtedly have important implications as we seek to complete negotiations with the federal government. To this end, my officials will be reviewing the information over the coming weeks. I look forward to a complete analysis of the information."

The province and the federal government are currently engaged in economic and financial feasibility studies to assess which of several options would best meet the future energy needs of Newfoundland and Labrador.
