NOTE TO EDITORS:      Photo Opportunity

On Wednesday, April 12, Sandra Kelly, Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology, and Joan Marie Aylward, Minister of Municipal and Provincial Affairs, will meet with joint venture partners Construction Management Technology of Mount Pearl and Butler Manufacturing of Ireland.

During the meeting, Seamus Butler of Butler Manufacturing will sign an agreement with Derek and Al Ducey of Construction Management Technology to market the Butler waste management system in Canada, with first right of refusal for the United States and Mexico markets. While the system is currently manufactured in Ireland, both Construction Management Technology and Butler are looking to have it manufactured in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The ministers, along with company representatives and Kirk Tilley of Ireland Business Partnerships, will be available at the Media Centre, Main Floor, East Block, confederation building, at 1:30 p.m. for a photo opportunity, and to discuss the business partnership with media representatives.

The business partnership falls directly under the mandate of economic cooperation which was established in a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 1996 between the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Government of the Republic of Ireland.

Media contact: Jacqueline Simon, (709) 729-0050.
