Minister commends Humber Valley Strawberry Festival organizers

Kevin Aylward, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, today extended congratulations to the organizers of this years Humber Valley Strawberry Festival for once again staging a successful event.

Mr. Aylward said: "The Humber Valley Strawberry Festival has grown over the years to become one of the premier summer events in all of Newfoundland and Labrador. This year, as in the past, the festival has been a family-oriented affair highlighted by a number fun-filled gatherings and top quality entertainment. I offer congratulations to the organizing committees and large circle of volunteers who make this event a resounding success year after year. Without their dedication and commitment this event would not be possible.

"The hard work that goes into promoting this event is very beneficial as it also draws attention to the regions vibrant agriculture and dairy industries. The Humber Valleys capacity to grow strawberries speaks for itself. However, the effort put into the growth of that quality product is also witnessed in the production of other locally produced commodities including such things as milk, and garden vegetables. These industries provide a significant contribution to local economies."
