Minister announces opening of McPahyden River Caribou Zone, Labrador.

Kevin Aylward, Minister responsible for wildlife, announced today that effective January 28 the McPahyden River Caribou Zone will be opened to caribou hunting. The minister stated: "There have been reports of significant numbers of caribou in the area which collaborates with the current distribution of satellite collared animals in this hunting zone." The minister said he is pleased to provide residents with this hunting opportunity.

"Staff of the Inland Fish and Widlife Division will continue to monitor the movement of the George River Caribou Herd," said Mr. Aylward.

"I wish all hunters a successful hunt and encourage everyone to exercise caution and safety in their pursuit."
