NOTE TO EDITORS:

John Efford, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture for Newfoundland and Labrador, will address members of The Rotary Club of Toronto during a luncheon on Friday, September 22. The luncheon will take place in the Imperial Room of the Royal York Hotel and begins at 12:15 p.m. with Minister Efford scheduled to speak at 1:00 p.m.

Minister Efford will speak on a number of issues surrounding the Newfoundland and Labrador fishery, including its successes since the 1992 groundfish moratorium, as well as some of the challenges that still exist for many rural communities in the province, such as the negative impact an overpopulated seal herd is having on the recovery of groundfish stocks on Canada�s East Coast.
