Premier announces senior appointments

Premier Beaton Tulk today announced several senior government appointments.

John Cummings, Q.C., Clerk of the Executive Council and Secretary to Cabinet, has been appointed Deputy Minister of Justice. Gary Norris, current Deputy Clerk and Associate Secretary to Cabinet, has been appointed as Clerk of the Executive Council and Secretary to Cabinet.

Andy Noseworthy has been named Deputy Clerk of the Executive Council and Associate Secretary to Cabinet. He is moving from the position of Deputy Minister, Intergovernmental Affairs Secretariat.

Lynn Spracklin, Q.C., current Deputy Minister of Justice, has been appointed Senior General Counsel within the Department of Justice. In this position, Ms. Spracklin will provide legal and policy analysis and advice at an executive level to the Department of Justice and to government on special projects. Her immediate focus will be in the areas of the administration of justice, civil litigation, and family, charter and human rights issues.

In announcing these appointments, Premier Tulk thanked Mr. Cummings for his service to government and to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador during his time as Clerk. He also noted the important contribution made by Lynn Spracklin during her time as Deputy Minister of Justice.

These appointments will take effect immediately.
