Minister proclaims National Payroll Week

Treasury Board President Anna Thistle today proclaimed September 18-22, as National Payroll Week
in Newfoundland and Labrador. The week is set aside to recognize the important role of payroll professionals in the workplace.

"Workers across the province, indeed the country, depend on payroll professionals to issue their pay in a timely manner and often we take for granted that our paycheques will be ready when we expect them," said Minister Thistle. "National Payroll Week gives us the opportunity to recognize the work ethic and excellence of payroll professionals, and the changing environment in which they work. In government, and in private enterprise, emerging technologies and changing structures provide daily challenges to these dedicated individuals."

National Payroll Week is sponsored by the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) along with key payroll product and service providers. The CPA provides payroll leadership and advocacy on behalf of 6,600 members in Canada and abroad and supports five regional offices. Programs and services help organizations enhance their payroll operations and ensure compliance with government requirements.
