Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Labour Minister Oliver Langdon has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. In the case of documents received or approved, copies may be obtained by contacting the regional office of the Department of Environment and Labour or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown for each item.

REGISTRATION WITHDRAWN:

Diversion of White Brook and Dewatering of Hakim Lake (Labrador City)
Proponent: Iron Ore Company of Canada

The proponent has withdrawn the proposed amendment which was registered under the Environmental Assessment Act on August 7, 2000. The proponent plans to expand the scope of the project to include the Luce Pit Development.

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED FROM ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:

The minister has released the following projects from environmental assessment as per requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act:

Marble Mountain to Deer Lake Fibre Optic Transmission Line
Proponent: Newfoundland Power Inc.

Terrenceville to Bay L'Argent Fibre Optic Transmission Line
Proponent: Newfoundland Power Inc.
