Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Labour Minister Oliver Langdon has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. In the case of documents received or approved, copies may be obtained by contacting the regional office of the Department of Environment and Labour or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown for each item.

NEW UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Indian Bay Cottage Access Road Ten Mile Pond
Proponent: Kevin B. Way

The proponent plans to construct a 800 metre access road to an existing cottage lot on the east side of Ten Mile Pond near Indian Bay. An 8.5 metre wide right-of-way and 5.5 metre wide gravel road are proposed to be constructed to the cottage. The undertaking was registered on November 17, 2000; public comments are due on December 25, 2000; and the minister's decision is due on January 1, 2001.

Crown Land 5 Year Forest Management Plan District 5 (2000-2005) Bonavista North
Proponent: Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods

The proponent has submitted the five year forest operating plan for District 5 (Bonavista North Management District) operating period 2000-2005. The plan describes past forestry activities, the allocation of wood supply and harvesting, silviculture activities, road construction, habitat protection and environmental protection and land use. Also, included are the forestry management activities that will take place on land exchanged to Crown in District 6 (Glenwood Forest Management District) as only one harvesting operation is proposed in District 6 during the next five years plus silviculture works. The undertaking was registered on November 20, 2000; public comments are due on December 25, 2000; and the minister's decision is due on January 4, 2001.
