Remembrance Day Holiday, November 11

Oliver Langdon, Minister of Environment and Labour wishes to advise that Remembrance Day, Saturday, November 11 is a shops closing holiday under the Shops Closing Act and all shops, other than those defined as exempt shops, are required to be closed on this day.

As Remembrance Day is not one of the five paid public holidays under the Labour Standards Act, there is no requirement either to pay employees for this day or grant an additional day off in lieu of Remembrance Day.
