Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Labour Minister Oliver Langdon has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. In the case of documents received or approved, copies may be obtained by contacting the regional office of the Department of Environment and Labour or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown for each item.

NEW UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Gambo Pond Cottage Access Road
Proponent: William J. Slaney

The proponent plans to construct an approximately 1.1 kilometre road to access 12 cottage lots on the northwest side of Gambo Pond, near the outflow of Mint Brook, in Central Newfoundland. Construction of the road is planned to begin in the fall of 2000 and will take approximately four days to complete. The undertaking was registered on September 18, 2000 public comments are due on October 25, 2000 and the minister's decision is due on November 2, 2000.

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED FROM ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:

The minister has released the following projects from environmental assessment as per requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act:

Crown Land Five Year Management Plan District 9 (Springdale)
Proponent: Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods

Forest Management District 18 Amendment (Roddickton, Main Brook Areas)
Proponent: Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods

Long Harbour Quarry (Concrete Aggregate) Plant
Proponent: Eastern Technical Services Limited

Carmanville (Route 33) Automobile Salvage Yard
Proponent: Edward Coles
