Tuesday, August 8 Through education and increased public awareness, vehicle exhaust emissions can be reduced. Participation in the "No Fees, No Fines" clinics is voluntary. These clinics are an opportunity for motorists to have the pollution control equipment in their vehicle inspected free of charge. All findings by the testing team are forwarded to the driver. "Whatever we put in our air ends up in our lungs, and the vehicle emissions clinic is one example of how we can all share responsibility to ensure good quality air for ourselves and for our children," said Peggy Johnson, Executive Director of the Newfoundland and Labrador Lung Association. "These clinics are an opportunity for motorists to do their part to keep the air we breathe clean and healthy," said Minister Langdon. "I encourage all motorists to participate actively in the testing program this year." Media contact: Sean Kelly, (709) 729-2575. 2000 08 07 10:10 a.m. |
